Are you passionate about evidence based and data driven policy development? Do you want to use your skills to build the use of ESG disclosure and CDP data, insights and research in decision making?
As part of our strategy to increase expertise among policymakers and financial market regulators, CDP is looking for an experienced Senior Policy Officer to join its Global Policy Team. This role will support the team’s work with a specific focus on existing and emerging Sustainable Finance Taxonomies and ESG Reporting Standards. This will include monitoring the latest developments in policy and regulation on sustainable finance taxonomies and ESG reporting standards, producing written content such as policy briefs and blog posts, organising events, and taking part in calls with stakeholders such as finance ministries, central banks, and standard setting organisations.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience analysing policy and an up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in the ESG disclosure ecosystem and sustainable finance. You will also have a track record of managing projects and supporting external teams in delivering against expected outputs.

About the Global Policy Team
This role sits within the Global Policy Team, a dynamic group of committed policy professionals that advances CDP policy and external affairs agenda. Our strategic approach aims to contribute to the development of policies contributing to achieving the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Biodiversity Framework. Our policy engagement is based on and inspired by evidence, data and insights disclosed to CDP and aimed at informing policies that build a thriving economy that works for people and planet in the long term. We work in close connection with our regional teams around the world to ensure the coordination of our policy work and cross-pollinate ideas and programmes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducts research, analyses policy and regulatory developments in taxonomies and standards, and identifies opportunities to engage and influence within the regulatory space.
- Manages a project focused on reporting harmonisation by mapping international standards.
- Keeps up to date with the developments in the ESG disclosure standards ecosystem and supports the team’s management in its engagements with the actors in this ecosystem.
- Supports the Global Policy Team and the regional teams in engaging with policymakers and regulators globally in the development of sustainable finance taxonomies.
- Supports in the organisation of events and seminars on topics related to the specific area of work.
- Coordinates work and engagement requests between CDP teams and regions.
- Supports the CDP Disclosure team with intelligence and direction coming from policy.
You will have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria:
- A university degree in Finance, Public Policy, Sustainability, or another related subject;
- At least 3-years’ experience in a similar role;
- Project management experience;
- Knowledge of the links between climate/environmental and financial risks and impacts and related information;
- Knowledge of the latest developments in the world of disclosure standards (ISSB, ESRS, SEC, etc.) and sustainable finance taxonomies;
- Strong personal drive, demonstrate ability to take initiative, multi-task, prioritise and work under pressure;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal; ability to explain complex or challenging topics clearly and succinctly;
- At ease in stakeholder-facing situations, excellent sense for interpersonal contact, and confidence in treating with high-level representatives from public and private sectors, using determination and diplomacy.
- Language skills beyond English
- Experience in working on cross-borders projects and supporting international teams
- Knowledge of sustainable finance policy trends beyond disclosure (including, but not limited to: the effects of environmental degradation on financial stability; trends around carbon pricing, digital taxonomy).
Salary and benefits: : £30,626 – £38,283 (or equivalent in Euros) per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
