Job Purpose & Background:
As Communications Lead, Latin America you will be responsible for owning and delivering an activation plan in the region for CDP’s exciting global go to market Communications and Marketing campaigns, working with stakeholders at CDP and our partners across Latin America.
Reporting to CDP’s global Director of Communications, you will manage up a three-person activation team in Latin America within our Communications and Marketing function. You will work in close collaboration with global campaign and media leads, and the market lead for Latin America.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Communications professional with demonstrable success in owning and delivering strategic communications campaigns, ideally in a sustainability, corporate or financial market context. You will be capable working with diverse business units and colleagues in a global organization. You will have experience of line management and can comfortably lead by example by owning deliverables and working in unison with your team to ensure CDP’s campaigns have the strongest impact across the region, particularly in key media and at strategic events. You will be confident liaising with senior stakeholders internally to present and develop your plans. Experience in delivery, market knowledge and a command of effective media and event tactics will be essential for success in this role.

Who you are
- Knowledge of the media landscape in Latin America, particularly Brazil, with Colombia and Mexico a plus
- At least 5 years’ work experience, ideally in the sustainability sector working with corporates, local or national government, public institutions or financial organizations;
- Knowledge and passion for corporate environmental topics, relevant regulation and/or sustainable finance;
- Experience in consistently delivering communications campaigns with clear objectives, tactics and deliverables;
- Flawless (C2 or native level) written Portuguese/Spanish communication skills – plus business fluency in English;
- Strong business communications experience and a very capable command of business language, with ability to interact convincingly with people at different levels of seniority and different cultural backgrounds, and ability to represent a topic or program in- and externally.
- Experience in line managing staff.
- Experience working in fast-paced (ideally global) teams with multiple senior internal and external stakeholders and ability to manage relationships well.
- A positive and collaborative approach that prioritizes impact with the organization’s mission and strategy in mind;
- A meticulous and critical eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and technical skills for tracking set-up, evaluating, reporting and actioning insights.
- Highly organized way of working to set and meet deliverables according to deadlines and high-quality standards
- Ability to coordinate and manage internal relationships well
- Willingness to travel across Latin America occasionally;
- Excellent knowledge of various software including but not limited to Microsoft Office – particularly Excel -, CMS/CRM systems, media tools & a clear ability to learn new tools quickly.
Your day-to-day
- Translating CDP’s global go to market campaigns into local activation tactics, particularly in media and at events.
- Owning deliverables on an annual activation plan in close coordination with global campaign/communications leads, local market leads and the wider Communications and Marketing function.
- Line management of Marketing and Communication team colleagues based in Latin America, ensuring their development and motivation.
- Forming and owning high-level relationships across Latin American media.
- Managing relationships with PR agencies
- Writing press releases as part of CDP go to market campaigns and pitching stories to top tier Latin American media.
- Pitching, briefing, and coordinating CDP spokespeople to attend impactful events.
- Informing and contributing to insightful content such as blogs, opinion pieces, podcasts, data analyses, videos and webpages relevant to Latin America.
- Generating and developing ad-hoc creative ideas for raising CDP’s profile in the media and marketplace.
- Owning the progress of your activation plans as part of the global Communications and Marketing team monitoring and evaluation.
This is a full-time position based in CDP's São Paulo office. The successful candidate must be able to work legally in Brazil, with an existing work permit.
