Capital Markets Disclosure Manager – based in Hong Kong

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Capital Markets Disclosure Manager – APAC ex CN & JPN to carry out disclosure support & engagement with financial institutions including asset managers, asset owners and banks in geographies where English can be used as business language (i.e. not Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea nor Japan. Not initially India, but with potential to expand coverage). The candidate must cover Asian timezones. This is an excellent opportunity to make an impact on how the financial ecosystem can respond to the key environmental challenges of climate change, deforestation and water security. The successful candidate will join a growing team of committed professionals working to embed ESG integration into mainstream financial analysis and investment processes.
This role is permanent.
Main Responsibilities
◥ Manage active engagement with key financial institutions to encourage the uptake of CDP disclosures, membership programmes, datasets and Signatory offerings
◥ Manage disclosure account management, maintenance and use of data in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
◥ Manage the coordination and development of key engagement materials and training resources used by the Capital Markets team to execute webinars and capacity-building events with major financial institutions and investors which raise the profile of CDP’s capital markets work across the financial sector
◥ Manage and report on grant funding deliverables and work with other teams in collaborative projects and activities such as speaking on behalf of CDP at public & media events, delivering capacity building, networking wherever & whenever possible to build CDP’s profile and presence to ensure CDP delivers maximum impact
◥ Utilize knowledge and understanding of sustainable finance to further engage the broader capital markets and support the Capital Markets (CM) team on ad hoc projects and carry out any other work that supports CDP’s operations and international presence, as required (during the 2024 disclosure season, this will include full Reporter Services delivery for a small number of clients).
◥ Manage remotely a small team (at the outset 1 headcount not in Hong Kong) – to deliver effectively on the above.
Required skills and experience
◥ Mandatory: Excellent English and an Asian language fluency (both verbal and written)
◥ Mandatory: Strong analytical skills, including experience in large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data, and producing insightful, concise and professional reports or presentations
◥ Mandatory: Keen interest in corporate sustainability, awareness of global environmental reporting developments (e.g. ISSB, TNFD, Transition Planning) and capital markets developments (e.g. GFANZ, NZAM) and Southeast Asian environmental reporting and regulatory trends
◥ Mandatory: 4 to 6 years+ of work experience in the financial services, corporate, consulting, or NGO world, with a focus on corporate sustainability issues and/or reporting. Career changers who can demonstrate relevant and tangible efforts to enter the field are also welcome to apply
◥ Mandatory: Proven track record of proactively and independently supporting clients or colleagues in work which requires a high level of planning, deep analysis, self-organization and attention to detail
◥ Mandatory: Good working knowledge of the Microsoft office software suite, especially Excel. Highly analytical approach able to navigate complex datasets and capital market nuances
◥ Advantageous: Masters or Bachelors degree in environmental or sustainability-related topics e.g. Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Ecology, Sustainability and Business and/or relevant finance or quantitative certifications
◥ Advantageous: Demonstrated knowledge of forest ecosystems, land conservation, and biodiversity. Familiarity with sustainable land use practices and conservation strategies.
◥ Advantageous: Proven track record in external client management or stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with Client Relationship Management systems
◥ Advantageous: A clear understanding of the aims, objectives and processes of CDP and a strong conviction about CDP’s theory of change. An understanding of capital markets and the investment management industry with a passion for sustainable investment

Salary and benefits: salary is dependent on relevant or applicable experience - however our starting salary for such an experienced hire is HKD444,000 per annum. As well as this we provide 24 days holidays+ public holidays, the opportunity to work flexibly and many others. The candidate will work 5 days per week.
