APAC Manager – Cities, States & Region
JOB PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND

- Would you enjoy working with local and subnational governments to support their climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience policies and plans through data collection, reporting and insights?
CDP has an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to join the disclosure team and lead our work related for ‘Cities, States and Regions’ (CStaR) for APAC region. The successful candidate will support in growing the climate and environmental disclosure for local and subnational governments, climate reporting and generating insights to further accelerate ambitious local and subnational climate action in the wider Asia Pacific region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Working with city and regional governments and local/regional partners to support cities, states and regions on climate change reporting, GHG accounting, climate risks and vulnerability assessments, and general climate change data management;
- Collaborating and communicating with the global disclosure team to prepare for and drive the engagement of city and regional governments in Asia Pacific on environmental data and reporting;
- Engaging city and regional governments on disclosure through CDP and partner initiatives, such as the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, C40 etc. including delivery of trainings.
- Supporting recruitment and human resource processes and managing junior staff members including interns as needed.
- Attending relevant events and meetings with key stakeholders in APAC as and when required.
- Engage on regular basis with external stakeholders/regional partners for disclosure related meetings/events/workshops.
The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time, and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 4-5 years professional experience in climate change, environment, sustainability or local/regional government roles;
- Demonstrate experience working with data, accounting and/or analytical tools;
- Experience in the design and organization of workshops, webinars and events;
- Experience in project management
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
- Fluency in English and preferably one other Asian language (e.g. Mandarin, Korean);
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to priorities and deliver projects on time;
- Experience working collaboratively with a range of teams and external stakeholders, and liaising across different time zones and cultures;
- Knowledge and interest in urban climate change adaptation and mitigation issues;
- Competency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office suite, and proven ability to learn and become proficient in new IT systems quickly;
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge/interest in the intersection of climate change, GHG accounting methods, risk and vulnerability assessment and resilience
- Direct experience of working with government(s)
- A working understanding of climate adaptation/resilience planning, implementation and city climate finance.
This is a full-time fixed contract role based in CDP’s Hong Kong office, reporting to the Head of Disclosure APAC ex CH JP& Environmental Data APAC.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Competitive salary dependent on experience and location. 24 days’ holiday, flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
