Who we are
At CDP, we are on a mission to solve our planet’s biggest environmental challenges: climate change, water scarcity and deforestation. We believe you can’t manage what you don’t measure – so we run the world’s largest environmental disclosure system. For the past two decades, our team has worked tirelessly to create a thriving economy that works for people and planet in the long term – we accomplish this by engaging the global actors who wield the greatest influence in driving environmental change: companies, cities, governments, and the capital markets.
CDP’s cascading global impact is powered by our tight-knit team of smart, savvy, curious and committed individuals, who share a common passion for creating a sustainable future. It is our people who make our work possible. And we provide our people with a working environment that empowers each individual to reach their full potential: one that is committed to equity; one that provides equal access for growth and development; and one that supports each individual throughout the full employee life cycle.
We are looking for a Sector Lead to join our Corporate Disclosure team to drive disclosure and Science-based targets adoption through direct corporate engagement and partner engagement in Canada. Your mission: help us achieve our mission by leading engagement in Canada for corporate audiences to achieve CDP’s goals on disclosure and environmental action and helping to raise CDP’s profile in Canada.
Who you are
- Must reside and be eligible to work in the locations stipulated above.
- Demonstrable knowledge about the impacts that corporations and supply chains have on climate change, the global water systems, and/or commodity-linked deforestation.
- Keen interest in environmental corporate reporting and disclosure.
- Knowledge of the Canadian sustainability landscape.
- Superior engagement, relationship management and communication skills, and a strong ability to pitch services.
- Can quickly understand client needs, identify opportunities, and act on this information.
- Strong attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to learn technical information such as CDP Scoring, Questionnaires, and science-based targets criteria.
- Hold a degree or equivalent professional experience in a subject relating to environment sustainability, procurement, project/grant management, and/or sustainable business.
- Can accurately communicate technical information in a concise, yet comprehensive manner.
- Familiarity with MS Office, CRM, and analytics platforms, with ability to master new systems.
- Have the drive to take ownership and responsibility for particular areas of work.
- Possess the desire and ability to improve and streamline processes to better and more efficiently achieve program goals, rather than follow the status quo.
Your day-to-day
- You will develop and project manage corporate engagement campaigns to increase disclosure among the largest Canadian companies and increase the number of companies committed to set science-based targets in Canada.
- You will manage relationships with 100+ large, public companies requested to disclose by investors and customers across several industries, serve as their primary point of contact, coordinate relevant corporate communications, and drive environmental action.
- You will implement disclosure engagement strategy to achieve annual disclosure and income targets.
- You will prepare and deliver presentations to external audiences on the value of CDP and build relationships in Canada to advance CDP’s work.
- You will project manage grant deliverables to achieve CDP goals in Canada including leading internal meetings and oversight of project team members.
- You will contribute to strategy development, annual planning, and process improvement.
- You will support cross-team collaboration by leasing with other CDP teams in North America and around the world.
- You will provide ad hoc support for other projects as necessary.
Please
note that we do not conduct phone screens and utilize screening
questions in each of our processes. You will receive the questions via
email shortly after applying and your responses will be due at 5:00 pm
ET on the recruitment closing date. Please send your answers in a PDF
