This post sits in the Project and Grant Management Office team, which is a part of the Finance Team. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of a portfolio of projects across the project management lifecycle from the contracting stage to close out. this person will ensure projects are delivered in line with CDP strategies and procedures, and in compliance with donor requirements. Specific areas of responsibilities include project quality, accountability, relationship management, impact reporting and knowledge management, compliance and risk management.
Who you are
- Must reside and be eligible to work in Brazil.
- Relevant degree or equivalent alternative levels of experience and training.
- Knowledge of project, programme, and portfolio management practices, standards, and methodologies.
- Experience in environmental project management for donor funded projects and programs.
- Knowledge of agile and classic project management methods.
- The ability to explore environmental issues and climate change aspects with different types and levels of stakeholders.
- Experience in dealing with the expectations of various internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high levels of change and quick turnaround times, whilst delivering to the highest standards.
- Analytical skills and ability to resolve complex project issues, with a balance of pragmatism and rigour.
- Good understanding of MEL and Value for Money.
- Understanding of risk and risk management.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills in English.
- The ability to work with multifunctional teams inside CDP.
- Ability to organise own work, and to manage time and resources effectively.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Your day-to-day
- Overall project lead for all projects in the role-holder’s assigned portfolio, in line with CDP’s agreed procedures, Project Management Guidelines and Project key documentation (Project Narrative, Budget, Log Frame, Risk Matrix, etc.).
- Contribute to scoping of early-stage project design, including the innovation of project ideas to support CDP’s strategic vision and fundraising initiatives.
- Support technical and/or thematic analysis related to the Thematic Project Portfolio activities.
- Manage Projects Implementation Teams’ members, including CDP global staff, sub-grantees, contractors, and external stakeholders, whenever necessary.Ensure timely and complete closure of projects in line with contractual requirements and work with Grant Management team to ensure that project is fully closed on the internal database Award Management Tool (AMT) as well as on financial system.
- Ensure management of contracts, including fund transfer procedures, maintaining records, and producing consolidated financial performance and deliverables. information, ensuring compliance with donor contractual requirements, in coordination with the Grant Management Manager (GM).
- Scrutinize the project’s expenditure for quarterly re-forecasts, including CDP’s direct cost recovery, in coordination with GM; raise risks to team leader for reporting at Project Risk meetings.
- Lead on all projects from allocated portfolio revisions and no cost extensions and work with the Development Team on cost extensions and renewals.
- Ensure timely follow up of audit findings required.
- Work closely with the colleagues from technical teams across CDP as required.
- Support knowledge collection and sharing, and contribute to building our internal knowledge base around project and change management.
- Contribute to the further development of the project management skills and processes throughout the organisation.
- Contribute to team and departmental meetings ensuring information on the portfolio is proactively shared and opportunities for greater engagement are known.
- Support and provide cover for fellow team members as and when needed.
