About the Team:
The Growth Function includes Development, Partnerships and Thought Leadership and is responsible for driving philanthropic revenue and strategic partner engagement to support CDP’s mission. By cultivating and stewarding relationships with strategic funders and partners, the function ensures sustainable financial and technical support for CDP’s global programs. The function is critical in enabling CDP to scale its work, innovate its systems, and deepen its environmental impact.
The Development team works closely with senior leadership to grow and diversify CDP’s funding base. The team raises philanthropic and grant income from Foundations, Individuals, Corporations and Governments, with a focus on donors based in the United States and UK/Europe. The Development Team sets and implements fundraising strategy, oversees fundraising operations, and builds meaningful partnerships with donors. The team works to manage the full donor lifecycle to ensure donor accountability, alignment, and delivery across all fundraising efforts. development; relationship management; and grant reporting and stewardship.
About this role:
The Manager, Development establishes and manages strategic, high-value relationships with current and prospective philanthropic, corporate and institutional donors to secure long-term, diversified revenue for CDP’s core operations and areas of expansion. The Manager plays a key role in implementing CDPs new fundraising strategy, with a focus on cultivating and engaging donors based in North America. Your ability to articulate CDP’s value in accelerating climate and nature action will be paramount in guiding donors toward significant financial commitments.
What you will do:
- Support the execution of CDPs fundraising strategy
- Manage a portfolio of strategic, high-value donors, developing strong relationships and implementing creative solicitation plans to maximize donor engagement and income.
- Research, develop and secure funding from new donors, with a particular focus on those with the potential to give long-term, 7+ figure grants.
- Develop an excellent knowledge of CDP’s work, and present high-quality proposals, budgets and presentations to donors. • Work closely with the Development Operations team to ensure
- Build strong external relationships with donors and their networks to influence their decision-making and strategy.

- Ensuring you know what is expected of you, through regular 1:1’s, having clear objectives in place, and participating in open and honest performance and development conversations
- Ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace, where team members communicate openly, share knowledge so it can be used, and respect difference.

Internal stakeholders include: Leadership Team, Thought Leadership, Finance, MEL. M&C and Development Operations
External stakeholders include: Current and prospective donors, with a particular focus on North America-based organizations
We're looking for:
- A proven track record of relationship building to secure grants at seven figure and above level, ideally with philanthropic and/or corporate donors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to network and negotiate with current and prospective donors.
- Attention to detail and proven ability to write concise and clear proposals and reports, and to analyse and prepare project budgets.
- Familiarity with climate change, sustainable finance, nature-based solutions or ESG trends
- A self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying new funding opportunities in a competitive landscape
