Senior Engagement Officer, UK Cities, States and Regions

Are you passionate about city climate and environmental action? CDP has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the ‘Disclosure’ team to support engagement with UK cities on environmental reporting and action. Tasks will range from engaging local authorities on the value of measuring and managing environmental performance, to providing high-quality support through webinars, working groups, resources and more.

Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the annual reporting process for all participating UK cities and providing ad-hoc support to cities in the wider EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa)
- Encouraging city governments to report their environmental information through CDP by making phone calls, sending personalized emails, organizing in-person meetings, webinars and other outreach activities
- Supporting the design and delivery of (online and physical) events and workshops
- Helping improve quality of reported data by providing one-to-one technical support
- Developing relationships and managing contacts through CDP’s customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Supporting data analysis activities and creating resources that showcase the value of disclosure
- Supporting campaigns (e.g., Race to Zero, Race to Resilience) and partnerships with organizations across the UK
- Supporting the UK Cities Manager and EMEA Regional Manager in their activities within the UK and wider EMEA region
- Representing CDP and the cities programme at conferences, meetings and webinars
You will have the following skills and experience:
Required skills and experience:
• 3+ years’ relevant experience working on cities and/or climate related topics
• An understanding of the issues of climate change mitigation and adaptation in cities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly and succinctly
• Experience in delivering support in a customer/client facing role
• Awareness of the role reporting plays in local climate governance and action
• Very good MS Office (particularly Excel) skills and ability to quickly grasp new IT systems
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and hit the ground running across all key responsibilities
• Self-motivation and an ability to take initiative
• A positive and enthusiastic team player with the ability to work under pressure
• Attention to detail and commitment to achieving high standards
Desirable skills and experience:
- Degree educated or equivalent in environment/sustainability
- Direct experience of working with government(s)
- Experience of public speaking
- Experience with customer relationship management software
- Proficiency in an additional European language
Salary and benefits:
£30,626 - £32,150 (commensurate with experience) per annum pro rata, 30 days’ holiday excluding bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and others.
This is a fixed term contract through to 31st May 2025, based at CDP’s London office and reporting to the Associate Director, Disclosure UK & MEA, with a possibility to extend subject to resources.
