Job Purpose and Background in summary
CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual with keen interest in environmental reporting and transparency to support CDP’s corporate engagement work in CDP's Disclosure team.
In your role as Engagement Manager, you will work directly with companies to accelerate CDP’s mission and motivate these global multinationals to limiting climate change, improving water stewardship, and banning deforestation from direct corporate business practices by disclosing to CDP.
You will need advanced knowledge of environmental issues and be able to get up to speed quickly with large amounts of technical CDP environmental reporting requirements across multiple sectors & geographies. You will need excellent interpersonal skills to be able to easily understand companies’ needs, tailor approaches to ensure more companies report to CDP on Climate Change, Forests and Water Security.
The Engagement Manager role covers corporates from the UK, Middle East, and Africa.

Key responsibilities include:
•Manage up to 150 High-priority companies including 15 largest non-disclosers from the UK & MEA region. Maintain a renewal rate of 90%.
• Engage non-responding companies with the aim to bring in new companies to disclose to CDP. (Exact objectives will be quantified once the candidate has started.)
• Lead on training and internal knowledge management for the UK & MEA Disclosure team
• Possible line management responsibility if the team hires temporary staff during disclosure cycle.
• Work with CDP’s Reporter Services and Supply Chain teams to promote CDP’s membership services and commitments and contribute to the Commercial team’s sales target.
• Represent the work of the Disclosure team by presenting on internal CDP events and external events.
• Possible ad hoc travel to Middle East & S Africa.
- Note: The focus of this role is currently on corporate stakeholders, but might be extended to also cover cities, states, and regions in the future.
You will have the following skills and experience:
•Minimum BA/BSc degree (environment, geography, economics preferred).
•Minimum 3+ years of work experience in a relevant field.
•An entrepreneurial and enthusiastic spirit with the ability to self-manage.
•Keen interest in environmental corporate reporting and disclosure.
•Excellent communication and engagement skills, with ability to interact convincingly with people at different levels of seniority and different cultural backgrounds; Good business communications experience, a strong command of business language and confidence in interacting with senior contacts.
•Strong organizational, planning and time management skills – both at strategic and operational levels.
•Strong people management skills.
•Proven experience in account management, business development and sales.
•A clear understanding of the aims of CDP’s engagement programme and a strong conviction about CDP’s impact.
•Excellent attention to detail.
•Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite with particular emphasis on Excel.
•Fluency in English. Knowledge of Arabic is considered a plus.
This is a full-time role based at CDP’s London office reporting to Associate Director, Disclosure, UK&MEA.
Salary and benefits: £40,000 - £43,00 per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
Final offer amount depends on multiple factors such as candidates experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data.
