Job Purpose and Background in summary
CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage an ambitious, multi-million-dollar project that seeks to eradicate deforestation from commodity supply chains. The project works with financial institutions, purchasing companies and suppliers to report and act on issues associated with the production of forest risk commodities - primarily cattle and soy but also timber, palm oil, rubber, coffee and cocoa. Using data disclosed by companies and financial institutions, the project also engages policy makers with insights and opportunities to strengthen legislation that support a transition to a 1.5-degree, nature positive world.
The successful candidate will work with various teams across CDP to ensure highest impact is achieved and will also provide day-to-day coordination of activities across internal functions and teams as well as external partners, including the donor
Project Manager is responsible for the overall management for a portfolio of projects across the project management lifecycle from the contracting stage to close out. Ensure that projects are delivered in line with CDP strategies and procedures, and in compliance with donor requirements. Specific areas of responsibilities include project quality, accountability, relationship management, impact reporting and knowledge management, compliance and risk management.

Supporting investors to identify and mitigate forest-related risk within investment portfolios and capitalize on opportunities to protect and restore forests.

Delivering initiatives designed to strengthen Nationally Determined Contributions in Indonesia and pilot traceability systems in Colombian cattle supply chains.
Responsible for managing a portfolio of allocated projects at their value.

You will have the following skills and experience:
• At least 4 years of working experience as a project manager at the interface of the private and public sector to address climate change , deforestation, environmental management, or a related field.
• Demonstrable expertise in one or more of the following: the drivers of deforestation, key commodity supply chains (including beef, soy, timber, pulp & paper, and palm oil), key geographies (South America, Southeast Asia), sustainability.
• Sound experience of working with project management methodologies and tools as well as reporting and budgeting; preferably gained while managing globally diverse, donor funded, multi-year projects.
• The ability to explore environmental issues and climate change aspects with different types and levels of stakeholders.
• Experience in dealing with the expectations of various internal and external stakeholders
• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with high levels of change and quick turnaround times, whilst delivering to the highest standards
• Analytical skills and ability to resolve complex project issues, with a balance of pragmatism and rigour.
• Good understanding of risk and risk management, MEL and Value for Money.
• Excellent verbal and writing skills in English.
• Ability to organise own work, and to manage time and resources effectively.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
This is a fixed term role (15 months) based at CDP’s London office reporting to Programme Manager Forests. This post sits in the Project and Grant Management Office team.
Salary and benefits: £37,643 - £56,465 per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and other benefits. Final offer amount depends on multiple factors such as candidates experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data.
